How do we define a ‘Thai Beach’?
There are certain things that we identify with a Thai beach experience crystal clear waters, white sand, iconic long-tail boats and I guess vendors peddling food, drink, souvenirs and massages.
With over 2,000 miles of coastline Thailand has some of the most beautiful beaches with clear blue seas, beaches offering a wide variety catering for all tourists including quiet, secluded coves and stretches of sand that are filled with wild partying.
We’ve all heard of May Bay, Chaweng and Patong but here are a few beaches that haven’t quite had the spotlight they deserve…maybe that’s not a bad thing!
KOH NAN YUAN
Ko Nang Yuan is a small island very close to Koh Tao. It is famous for its diving spots and its great snorkeling beach.
Many day trippers come from the islands of Koh Tao, Koh Samui, as well as from Surat Thani and Chumphon.
If you’ve had enough of water shenanigans, try hiking up the viewpoint for a panoramic & postcard-perfect perspective of Koh Nang Yuan.
KOH MAI PHAI aka BAMBOO ISLAND
Koh Mai Phai is a small island in Thailand, located between the Krabi coast and the Phi Phi Islands.
Another beach great for snorkeling with stunning coral reef being so close to the shore this offers an unforgettable underwater view.
A paradise haven perfect for loosing hours at a time. The stunning tiny island is just a short strip of white sand beach which rises from the sea, about 600 meters wide and 700 m long, with a shape like a heart.
KOH KRADAN, TRANG
Koh Kradan is named from its oblong shape. Koh Kradan has an area approximately 600 acres or 2.4 square kilometers. It is located about 10 kilometers from the southeast coast of Thailand.
In recent years Koh Kradan has become the most popular of the Trang beaches. With sands the colour of Carrara marble and azure waters, it’s easy to see why.
The waters are so clear that you can easily see fish swimming around, and when the tide is low, you can walk to the coral reefs.
